Canon Herring (born March 18, 2004) is an American film score composer, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and worship leader. He has scored films such as GYC: The Movement(2022), Bee The Witness (2024), Steady Hands(2023), Lila Luzi (2022), Cilantro (2022), working with many organizations such as Boxlapse, Lightbox Collective, Sp7 Studios, Gravity Films, Coversey Enterprise and Sōma Church.
Herring was born in Tyler, Tx. He is from a musical family; his father playing the guitar and many other instruments and his mother having played the piano in her youth. Herring started studying music as a child, taking piano and drum lessons from his father at the age of six. He took classical piano lessons for a short time, then later continued learning by ear. After developing a passion for music, Herring began learning many other instruments such as the guitar, bass, flute and cello. In 2018, Herring composed his first classical piano album for a local business fair. Wanting to further pursue music, He started composing and producing for different films and organizations, as well as his unattached original compositions and lyrical songs.
Who am I without The Creator who guides my hands? I recognize that nothing that I do is my own. I give all I am and all I do to God first. I don't just approach my lyrical songwriting this way, but my compositions as well. Before I sit down and unleash my creativity, I pray for the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit to guide me. All of my lyrical songs are encouraging, whether they are spiritual or not, but a lot of them are scripture based and very christian. Even in listening to my soundtracks I pray that the listener is lead to The Truth. All that being said, my goal as a "songwriter" is to encourage all who hear my music, lyrical or not.
